Vacuum Rings

Vacuum rings for safety glass production

Laminated glass is the type of glass you typically find in your car’s windshield – the type of glass that holds together in the event of a crash or blast. The spider-net shape that forms, avoiding the driver and passengers being injured by sharp glass edges, is formed thanks to the double glass structure, being glued together by an interlayer.

The production of safety glasses is done in high temperatures, in environments that put high demands on all materials used.
Sigma Polymer Group develops the vacuum rings that is used when removing residual air between the layers of glass and their interlayer. High-grade rubber makes the GT-Vacuum Ring resistant to abrasion and high temperatures. The vacuum rings are manufactured in silicone, platinum silicone and silicone free material, which gives the products excellent mechanical properties especially when it comes to elasticity and elongation at break. This enables the use of one ring size on a wide range of laminates, and it can endure high number of laminating cycles resulting in a lower cost per laminate.
The GT-vacuum ring is produced in different section lengths to fit your specific requirements and can easily be made with a molded angle at any selected position to ensure a perfect seal even at very sharp corners.
